The Club

The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.

No truer words have ever been spoken for some of the kids attending the Boys & Girls Club of St. Joseph County. The Club provides a safe place for the kids in the community that need it most during the after-school peak hours (3-6) for juvenile crime and experimentation with drugs, cigarettes, alcohol and other risky behaviors. It’s not simply a day care or after-care place, but rather a place that provides educational programming, leadership coaching and mentoring by the caring staff members during those hours, as well as throughout the summer months.

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, and  responsible citizens.

SUCCESS IS WITHIN REACH OF EVERY CHILD
The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County  believes every girl and boy deserves a safe place to learn and grow; life-enhancing programs, character development experiences, and hope and opportunity for the future.

In such an environment, kids can discover how to see beyond the walls of their current situation and realize they can succeed. They are becoming better people, contributing members of the community—our future citizens, labor force, and leaders.

The Club’s mission is to serve the youth of our community by providing social, physical, academic, cultural and family experiences in a safe environment and to help develop a value system that will improve the quality of their lives and lead them to become productive, responsible citizens.

It is a positive mission that is met head-on with life-changing programs and a caring, dedicated staff. The Club is there when kids are the least supervised and the most vulnerable offering programs afterschool each weekday and throughout the summer. Kids learn to work and play together. They are given structure and responsibility. Their attitudes change, they become more confident, develop character, and learn why it is important to get an education. They are motivated to avoid alcohol, drugs, and tobacco, and make safe choices.
